San Antonio, Texas, USA (February 24-26) - The sixteen players that comprise the Junior and Senior Warriors accompanied by over 30 friends and family members traveled to San Antonio this week to take part in the Texas State Homeschool Basketball Championships.

This Seniors got things started Thursday evening at 6 PM by taking on Team USA, a composite team of players that attended the tournament without a team. As expected, the Seniors soundly defeated Team USA by the score of 82 to 33. Following the Senior game the Junior Warriors played the Houston HYCA Warriors and dominated them by the score of 64 to 7. The day concluded with a birthday party for Coach Gist at Friday's as both teams celebrated their respective wins.

Friday games for the Warriors began at 1:30 PM with the Juniors taking on a strong Lake Houston team in the semi-finals. The teams stayed close through the first two periods, but the Juniors pulled away substantially in the third period and didn't look back. At the end of the game the scoreboard showed the Warriors victory by the score of 59 to 41. The victory would place the Juniors in the championship game the following day. Later that afternoon the Seniors played in their semi-final game by taking on the Richardson Homeschool Athletic Assn. team. The Seniors had just played the Richardson team only a week earlier and narrowly defeated them by two points. This time, although with almost the same score, the scales were tipped toward Richardson HSAA as the Seniors fell to them by the score of 50 to 54. The loss would place the Senior Warriors in a game for third-place the next day.

Saturday was to be an emotional day. It began at 11 AM with a team meeting before the noon Senior game. Coach Gist told both teams how much this season had meant to him and in particular honored the graduating Senior Team players that were about to play their last game with the King's Warriors. Players Taylor Gist and Matt Gardner presented Coach Gist a mounted basketball signed by the Warrior players. After a team picture, the coach and players turned to the business at hand. The schedule had back-to-back games in different gyms for the two Warrior teams. First, the Seniors took on Weatherford HSA which they had played three times this season and defeated by an average of 39 points. Neither the Warriors or their opponent was especially excited by the prospect of finishing their seasons in this manner. However, the Seniors had traveled to San Antonio to play basketball with their best effort and they took on this game with as much seriousness as any other. The first sign of conflict came when the Weatherford coach insisted on a rarely invoked rule that said that if a team was more than 35 points behind they could have the score blanked from the scoreboard. With this done, in the second-half the situation deteriorated. In a conflict with the officials the Weatherford coach received a double technical foul and was ejected from the gym. The Weatherford bench was taken over by an assistant and the game was finished without further incident. After the final buzzer the scoreboard was turned back on to show the final score of 84 to 35, giving the Senior Warriors 3rd Place in the 18 and over division of the State Championships and concluded the Seniors season with a record of 17 wins and 9 losses.

As soon as the Senior game ended Coach Gist boarded a waiting car to race him over to the Home Dome gym where the Junior Warriors were within a couple of minutes of starting their State Championship game against the San Antonio Patriots Eighth Grade "A" team. The Juniors were able to hold their own through the first half despite difficulty in making what should have been easy shots and having others rattle out of the basket. In addition, the Patriots had a point-guard that was on fire, scoring 28 points in the game. The Junior's began to fall hehind early in the third period and the game ended with a 52 to 72 loss. Despite having to taste the bitter pill of a defeat for the first time, the loss gave the Junior Warriors a very respectable second-place in the State Championships and ended their season with an almost perfect 19 and 1 record.

Later that afternoon in the award ceremony, in addition to receiving their respective second and third-place ribbons, Junior Warriors players Justin Lewis and Travis Gist were given All-State Team Awards with Blake Ramos receiving the Christian Character Award while Senior Warriors player Chris Coleman received an All-State Team Award with T.J. Evans receiving the Senior Team Christian Character Award.

Congratulations to both the Junior and Seniors Warriors teams on a very fine and memorable season. Senior Warriors Defeat Richarson HSAA

North Richland Hills, Texas, USA (February 18th) - In what Coach Gregg Gist described as one of the biggest wins in the history of the King's Warriors, the Senior Warriors defeated the Richardson Home School Athletic Association tonight by the score of 50 to 48. In several match-ups over the years, the Warriors have never defeated the Richardson HSAA team, in fact they have never even come close. The Seniors were able to get ahead early by a small margin and maintain that margin through much of the game. It was a great win to launch the Warriors into the Texas State Homeschool Championship in which both Warriors teams begin competition on February 24th. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Juniors Win Big and Seniors Lose a Close One

Dallas, Texas, USA (February 17th) - Both Warriors teams traveled to Dallas tonight to play the last game of their season series with The Dallas Jewish Community Center Junior and Seniors teams. First the Juniors finished up their two game season series by handing Dallas JCC their second loss of the season to the Junior Warriors. For the first time this season the Junior Warriors had to overcome a half-time deficit albeit only a one pointer. However, the Juniors were able to come back and finish the game strong winning by the score of 68 to 48. Tonights game finishes the regular season for the Junior Warriors giving them an undefeated 17-0 record. The Juniors will travel to San Antonio next week to defend their title as Texas State Champions at the Texas State Homeschool Basketball Championship.

Following the Junior game, the Seniors Warriors then had one more chance to avoid a season sweep by the Dallas JCC Senior team. Having lost the first two meetings of the season, the Seniors played hard and kept the game close all the way to the end. But they couldn't quite make it and lost by the score of 63 to 70. The seven-point loss was the closest of the three games the Senior Warriors played this season against Dallas JCC (the others were a 9 point loss and a 14 point loss). The Seniors will play one more regular season game tomorrow night before joining the Junior Warriors at the Texas State Homeschool Championship. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Junior Warriors Take Their Sweet Sixteenth Straight Win

North Richland Hills, Texas, USA (February 14th) - The Warriors last game to be played this season at our home gym at North Richland Hills Baptist Church was this afternoon with the Junior Warriors defeating the North Hills School by the score of 54 to 36. It is the 16th straight win for the undefeated Junior Warriors as they look forward to the final regular season game later this week before finishing up the season at the Texas State Homeschool Basketball Championship in San Antonio on February 24th-26th. Junior and Senior Warriors Both Win Close Games Against Faith Christian

Irving, Texas, USA (February 8th) - The previous game the Junior Warriors played, a home game against Faith Christian on January 31st was a 12-point victory and the closest game for the undefeated Juniors so far this year. Well, tonight the Juniors along with the Senior Warriors traveled to Irving to play Faith Christian once again. The Juniors were victorious albeit by an even more narrow seven-point victory of 46 to 39. A season high 31 turnovers by the Junior Warriors kept Faith in the game all four quarters.

The Senior Warriors then had their turn against the Faith Christian Senior team. Avenging a 30 to 32 double overtime loss against Faith a week earlier, the Seniors overcame a ten-point deficit at the half to win by the score of 46 to 39. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Juniors Win, Seniors Lose in Double Overtime

North Richland Hills, Texas, USA (January 31st) - The Junior Warriors defeated the Faith Christian Junior Team this afternoon by the score of 59 to 47. Although the Juniors remain undefeated, the 12 point win marks the closest game for the team this season.

The Senior Warriors then played Faith's Senior team in what could only be termed a very strange game. The halftime score was 7 to 6 Warriors. Yes, 7 to 6! The game was obviously a defensive battle, although the shooting percentages of the normal Warriors scoring leaders were in the single digits. At the end of regulation the teams had battled to a 23 all tie. An overtime period didn't help much resluting in a 28 all tie. In the second overtime the Warriors were unable to pull it out and lost to Faith by the score of 30 to 32. Both Warriors teams will have a re-match with Faith on February 8th. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Senior Warriors Win in Overtime

North Richland Hills, Texas, USA (January 13th) - Scheduled as an away double-header with both the Warriors Junior and Senior teams traveling to the Irving YMCA to face their Emanuel Baptist counterparts, a scheduling conflict at the Irving YMCA forced a last minute move to the Warriors home gym at NRH Baptist Church. Unfortunately, due to the late arrival of the Emanuel teams, the Junior game was shortened to an unofficial scrimmage game. Finally the Senior Warriors were able to take on the Emanuel Baptist Senior team. In a close game that saw the Senior Warriors up by two at the end of the 1st period, Emanuel up by one at the half, the Warriors once again up by two at the end of the 3rd period, and a 42 to 42 tie at the end of regulation. Due to the unscheduled game at NRHBC, time only permitted a one minute overtime period in which the Senior Warriors shut out Emanuel 5-0 resulting in a 47 to 42 Senior Warriors win. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Junior Warriors Defeat North Hills School

Irving, Texas, USA (January 11th) - The Junior Warriors traveled to Irving tonight to play the North Hills School at the North Lake College gymnasium. As it was with the Junior's last game, this was the hardest and closest game so far this season. The lead traded several times during the first half as the Warriors struggled offensively. The second half saw some improvement in shooting, enough to stay ahead for most of the half and in the fourth quarter to widen the lead into double digits. When the final buzzer sounded the scoreboard showed the Junior Warriors ahead by the score of 60 to 44. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

Following the Junior game the Senior Warriors faced the Dallas JCC Senior Team. Dallas JCC was up by 20 points at the half and the Seniors were only able to whittle 6 points off of that lead by the final buzzer, losing by the score of 66 to 80. The Senior loss is the second of the season to the Dallas JCC, the first being on November 9th when the Seniors lost by 9 points. Please visit our GAME STATS page for all the information on this and all other games as it becomes available.

However, the Seniors mounted a valiant effort to get back in the game, never giving up. It took the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th quarters to close the gap that Harvest built in the 1st quarter, but in the end, time caught up with the Seniors. They were able to narror the lead to 67 to 57 as the 4th quarter ended. Given another 8 minutes to play, there is no doubt that they could have pulled this one out.
